Play at the Devil’s Bed

Play, my little doll, as though the Devil was watching
With his cackle laugh and evil eye,
Don’t mess up unless you wish to go without food again tonight.
Play, my little doll, as though it was your life
Wrapped on a string for you to reach.
But beware of the cliff at your feet leading to the Devil’s bed.

Won’t you play me a song with a voice pure as snow
Without it twisting into a fear ridden hiss?
Or perhaps, should I say, the white has turned dark
As the depths of the eyes in your victims’ wake?
Tempt not, my little doll, for the devil sees all
Just as he sees innocence once it stains.

So play, my little doll, as though your God was watching
With his soft smile and gentle voice,
Don’t hesitate unless you wish to see disappointment in his eyes.

Wrapped in the ocean’s abyss.
But beware the shark of cowardice looms in search of prey.

Without it lashing wired barbs of hate?
